A few days back, Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer collector Tina Dabi (IAS Tina Dabi) was embroiled in controversies for ordering the demolition of houses of Pakistani Hindus. But now Pakistani Hindus are blessing this IAS officer to get the happiness of children. The reason is that Tina Dabi has fulfilled her promise which she had made after bulldozing their houses.
In fact, the Jaisalmer district administration has allotted 40 bighas of land in Mool Sagar to settle these Hindu refugees from Pakistan. After this decision, on May 25, Tina Dabi reached among the refugee families. They welcomed him in an emotional way. The refugees reportedly said, “Collector sahiba, thon nyal kar diya…he to hek hi ashish deso the dudho nahao puto phalo.” Laughing in response to the blessings of having a daughter, Collector Tina Dabi said – even if she has a daughter, it will work.
Dainik Bhaskar quoted Pakistani refugee woman Sugni Devi as saying, “We are very happy now. Thanking Collector Tina Dabi very much and praying for her. We all came to Jaisalmer after being harassed by Pakistan.
At present, the allotment of land for the refugee families living in the night shelter has been done near Mool Sagar, about 5 km from the district headquarters. Before starting the work of leveling the land, worship was also done. The Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) has been instructed to make arrangements for electricity and water. There is a plan to settle about 200 families on this land. This is perhaps the first case in Rajasthan of UIT earmarking land separately for resettlement of Pakistani Hindu refugees. The district administration has also formed a committee to help these refugees. Efforts will also be made to get them citizenship.
Significantly, on May 16, 2023, the settlement of Pakistani Hindu refugees was destroyed in the Amar Sagar area of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Following the orders of the Collector, the team of UIT had run a bulldozer here in the presence of heavy police force. After this Tina Dabi was embroiled in controversies. After this, the district administration had made alternative arrangements for the affected people to stay. A survey team was formed to select the land.
Earlier, similar action was also taken in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. On 24 April 2023, the Jodhpur Development Authority had run bulldozers on the houses of refugee Hindus in Chokha village in the name of anti-encroachment campaign. Most of the victims of this action have long-term visas to stay in India, but till now they have not got Indian citizenship.
