Anti Smog Campaign Delhi: Anti dust campaign has started in Delhi from Monday (May 8). This campaign will be run for the next one month i.e. till June 8. Under this campaign, 235 patrolling teams of 629 personnel from 13 departments and 165 patrolling teams of 433 personnel have been deployed at night for surveillance in entire Delhi. Also, self-registration of all construction sites above 500 square meters is mandatory on the C&D portal.
Instructions have been issued to all the departments to continuously inspect C&D sites and take action on the violation of 14 construction rules at construction sites. To prevent dust pollution, 84 Mechanical Road Sweeping (MRS) machines, 609 water sprinklers and 185 mobile anti-smog guns have been deployed and 70 new Integrated Mechanical Road Sweeping (MRS) machines and 250 Integrated Water Sprinkler machines will be procured soon. Today a review meeting was held with all the departments.

Giving information about the Anti-Dust Campaign, Environment Minister Gopal Rai said that due to the steps taken by the Delhi government, there has been a reduction of 30 percent in Delhi’s air pollution from 2016 to 2022-23. Gopal Rai said that ever since the Delhi government has started the Real Time Source Appreciation Study, it has been felt that the causes of pollution in winter are different and the causes of pollution are different in summer.

Pollution in winter is mostly due to change in weather. This includes stubble burning, firecrackers, smoke from vehicles and open fires. At the same time, pollution occurs mainly due to dust, garbage mountains and bush fires in summer. For this reason, to deal with the problem of pollution in the summer season, a summer action plan based on 14 focus points was announced by CM Arvind Kejriwal on May 1.
Gopal Rai further said that under the summer action plan to bring further improvement in air pollution in Delhi, the Delhi government is starting an anti-dust campaign in Delhi for the next one month from May 8.
24 hour dust pollution monitoring in Delhi
Under the anti-dust campaign, 235 patrolling teams of 629 personnel and 165 patrolling teams of 433 personnel have been deployed at night in 13 departments for surveillance in entire Delhi. These teams will work for 24 hours to monitor and prevent incidents of dust pollution in Delhi. Whose report will be shared with the Environment Department and DPCC from time to time.
Registration of C&D sites on the portal
Environment Minister Gopal Rai told that the dust pollution generated from the construction sites proves to be very harmful for the health of the people. To work in this direction, the Construction and Demolition Portal was launched. Self-registration of all sites above 500 square meters is mandatory on this portal. So far 750 sites have been registered on this portal.
14 rules of construction
Under this campaign, it will be ensured that all the active C&D sites are registered on the portal and DPCC will review the self assessment report of all the registered sites registered on the portal. Along with this, it is necessary to implement 14 construction rules on all construction sites. For this, instructions have been issued to the departments to continuously monitor the construction sites. Appropriate action will be taken by the department as per the instructions of NGT in case of violation of rules on construction sites.
Deployment of Anti Smog Guns / MRS / Water Sprinkler
Gopal Rai informed that 84 Mechanical Road Sweeping (MRS) machines, 609 water sprinklers and 185 mobile anti-smog guns have been deployed across Delhi to prevent dust pollution. Regarding dust pollution, earlier there was a rule to install anti-smog guns only on construction sites above 20,000 square meters. Now, on the basis of the new rule, it has been made mandatory to install anti-smog guns at the construction site of area ranging from 5 thousand square meters to more than that.
1 anti smog gun on construction site of 5 thousand to 10 thousand square meter, 2 anti smog gun on construction site of 10 thousand to 15 thousand square meter, 3 anti smog gun on construction site of 15 thousand to 20 thousand square meter and above 20 thousand square meter There should be at least 4 anti smog guns on the above construction site.
Special campaign will be run on all 13 hotspots
Gopal Rai said that through a special campaign, the sources of air pollution in all the 13 hotspots will be detected on the basis of real-time apportionment study on a daily basis and the nodal officers there will share the information about the major pollution factors in their area. Will be done so that quick action can be taken on it.
Review meeting with departments
Environment Minister Gopal Rai told that under this, 70 Integrated Mechanical Road Sweeping (MRS) machines and 250 Integrated Water Sprinkler machines will be procured soon for the pollution caused by the road so that the pollution caused by the roads can be stopped. For this, a review meeting was held with all the concerned departments at the Delhi Secretariat today. During the meeting, officers of Environment Department, DPCC, Delhi Jal Board, PWD etc. were present.
The Environment Minister told that with this anti-dust campaign, the people of Delhi will get relief to a great extent from the pollution caused during the summer season. And it will work to play an important role in environmental improvement and pollution control of Delhi.
