New Delhi:
DGTR, an arm of the commerce ministry, has recommended imposition of anti-dumping duty on imports of certain types of optical fiber from China, Korea and Indonesia. This recommendation has been made to protect the domestic industry from cheap imports.
The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) has made this recommendation after examining the dumping of ‘Dispersion Unshifted Single-Mode Optical Fiber’ imported from these countries.
Birla Furukawa Fiber Optics Pvt. Ltd. had asked for initiation of anti-dumping investigation on the product on behalf of the domestic industry. The DGTR in its investigation found that the imports are causing material injury to the domestic industry.
