New Delhi. AICTE under the Union Ministry of Education has decided to provide virtual internship on skills for the students through EduSkills Foundation. Its main objective is to aim to make India as the biggest talent hub. A huge number of applications have also been received in this regard from the students of various technical universities/institutions all over India. A total of 1,20,000 students have successfully completed the internship during the last four cohorts. AICTE President Prof. TG Sitaram has launched the ‘Cohort-5’ program under this objective. This program was inaugurated by NETF President Prof. Anil Sahasrabuddhe, AICTE CCO was launched in the presence of Dr. Buddha Chandrasekhar.
According to AICTE, more than 100,000 candidates have been selected for Cohort-5 to participate in internships in 12 diverse domains. These internships are expected to be completed by July 31, 2023. The primary objective of this initiative is to provide valuable internship experience to students coming from Tier-3 cities and rural areas. Additionally, these new skills programs aim to expand their reach to students who typically do not have access to advanced technology opportunities. Thus the objective of this internship program is to promote entrepreneurial endeavors across the country.
AICTE says that Eduskills is a large social edtech organization and has large MNC tie-ups, industry-academia linkages and faculty development programmes, student internships and career options. For this initiative AICTE has roped in leading MNCs to provide advanced skills and internship opportunities to the students to make them industry ready.
Speaking at the launch of Cohort-5 of Virtual Internships, AICTE Chairman Prof. (Dr.) TG Sitaram said, “I heartily congratulate all the selected students on behalf of AICTE for reaching this important milestone. will bring revolution and transformative changes. AICTE aims to extend these opportunities to rural and tribal students across India with the intention of turning India into a talent hub.”(IANS)
