Lucknow. Around 43 per cent candidates skipped the civil services preliminary examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in Lucknow on Sunday. Only 57.10 percent of the 40,018 candidates appeared.
In the morning shift, 23,123 (57.78 per cent) candidates appeared, while 16,895 skipped the exam.
In the second shift, 22,851 candidates (57.10 per cent) appeared and 17,167 left the exam.
In 2020, around 50 percent of the candidates had left the exam.
Meanwhile, the appeared candidates found the General Studies (GS) paper much tougher than last year.
Rajeshwar Singh, a candidate who appeared for the exam from Barabanki said, this year the question paper of General Studies was very difficult. I had given the same exam last year also, but this year the paper was tougher.
He said that the second paper ‘Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT)’ was easy.
The exam was conducted across 86 exam centers in the state capital.(IANS)
