Arvind Kejriwal Meets Wrestlers: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has met wrestlers protesting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Saturday (April 29) over the action taken against Wrestling Federation of India President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Earlier, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi had met these wrestlers. Apart from all these things, the wrestlers have also raised questions on the police investigation. He says that the name of an underage accused and details of the investigation have been leaked.
So let’s know 10 big things related to the case-
- During the meeting with the wrestlers, Arvind Kejriwal said that whoever misbehaved with our sisters should be immediately punished and hanged. He said, “It is sad that some man has done wrong with the girls who have brought laurels to India, why he has to sit at Jantar Mantar to register an FIR against him.” Along with this, he also said that the government had changed in the year 2011 from this Jantar Mantar.
- At the same time, earlier the wrestlers said who is leaking the details of the investigation? Apart from this, the wrestlers have also accused the police of misbehaving with them.
- If we talk about Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, then he has said that he is completely innocent. I will cooperate with any investigation. Their (protesting wrestlers) demands are constantly changing. Resigning would mean accepting the allegations. Resignation is not a big deal, but will not accept it as a criminal. The police have registered two cases of sexual harassment against Brij Bhushan Singh.
- Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi also reached Jantar Mantar and met the protesting wrestlers and targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He supported the wrestlers. He said that the government has bowed down against a mafia and Bahubali and is protecting him. First of all, he should be removed from his post.
- The Delhi Police has registered two FIRs against the head of the Wrestling Federation of India in connection with the allegations of sexual harassment made by women wrestlers on Friday (April 28).
- The first FIR involving allegations made by a minor has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. This means that if Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is arrested, he cannot get bail.
- Solicitor Tushar Mehta appeared in the Supreme Court on behalf of the Delhi Police regarding the matter. He had told the court that the case would be registered on Friday. A few hours later, a case was registered against Brij Bhushan Singh.
- At the same time, senior advocate Kapil Sibal filed an affidavit in the court on behalf of the wrestlers. In this, he had demanded the protection of a minor girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted.
- The Supreme Court in its order said, “Considering the matter placed on record, we direct the Commissioner of Delhi Police to assess the threat perception and provide adequate protection to the minor girl involved.” The Supreme Court is hearing the entire matter on the appeal filed by the wrestlers. The wrestlers had alleged that even after allegations of sexual harassment were leveled against Brij Bhushan Singh, the police was not registering the case.
- The wrestlers, who have been protesting since last Sunday at Jantar Mantar over the action against the head of the Wrestling Federation of India, have welcomed this first step but have also said that they will continue their protest. They demand that BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh be removed from all posts.
