Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Seelampur, Delhi, Abdul Rahman (AAP MLA Abdul Rahman) and his wife Asma were convicted in the case of assault and death threats. The Rouse Avenue Court held him guilty of assault and intimidation of a government school principal in the 2009 case.
Abdul Rehman and his wife Asma had killed Razia Begum, the headmistress of a government school. Was prevented from doing duty by abusing and threatening to kill. The court held them both guilty under sections 353/506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The Rouse Avenue Court, in its judgement, said that both Abdul Rehman and Asma had assaulted the principal of a government school with a common intention and caused injury to her. Obstructed public official in duty. The court said that the prosecution was successful in proving the charges against both of them.
Abdul Rehman’s wife Asma has also been convicted under section 332 of the IPC. However, none of the eyewitnesses recorded in the FIR had recorded their statements. There was also no Medico Legal Case (MLC). The FIR was also lodged late by a day.
This incident happened about 14 years back in 2009 at Zeenat Mahal Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Jaffrabad. Principal Zeenat Mahal was on her duty on 4 February 2009. At the same time Asma came to the school and slapped Zeenat Mahal. After some time Rahman came with his companions and abused and threatened the principal.
The AAP MLA and his wife Asma face a maximum jail term of seven years. As per rules, if an MLA is sentenced to more than two years, he will be disqualified from the membership of the Delhi Legislative Assembly. Rahman, however, said that he would appeal the matter in the High Court.
Abdul Rahman is AAP’s MLA from Seelampur. He was accused of molesting and assaulting a woman. The woman had complained about this in March 2021 at Jaffrabad police station. After this, investigation is being done by registering the case.
The woman had alleged that Abdul Rehman had molested her and assaulted her when she protested. This incident happened during the by-election of Jaffrabad Municipal Corporation.
