The Fact India: The war of words has intensified during the Karnataka assembly election campaign. In a public meeting, BJP MLA Basanagowda on Friday called Congress leader Sonia Gandhi “Vishkanya”. This statement of Basanagowda has been given on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comment on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s ‘poisonous snake’. Basanagouda said that now Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge is comparing the PM with a cobra snake. They are saying that they will spew poison. But in the party in which you are dancing, is Sonia Gandhi a Vishkanya.
The BJP MLA said that we expect everyone to make rhetoric while staying within limits. But the leaders of the party from which Kharge comes, sometimes call Modi ‘maut ka saudagar’, sometimes ‘Duryodhan’, sometimes ‘gutter worm’, sometimes ‘aam chaiwala’. Such words should not be used in a democracy. Please tell that at an election rally in Ron in Gadag district, Kharge said in Kannada that Modi is like a poisonous snake. Don’t try to lick this snake.
He later clarified that he meant that the BJP is like a snake. Kharge said that I did not tell him (Modi) like this. I have said earlier also that I do not make personal attacks. What I said was that the (BJP) ideology was poisonous. If you support the ideology and want to taste it, death is certain.
After this statement of Kharge, there were sharp reactions from the BJP, after which Kharge started giving clarification. Union Minister Smriti Irani said that these words may be of Kharge ji but this faith, this poison is being spewed from the Gandhi family. This is not the first time that a Congress leader has made derogatory remarks on Prime Minister Modi. With such a comment, he has ensured that the defeat of the Congress in the Karnataka elections is certain.
