New Delhi. MG Motor has launched the MG Comet EV in India. It is the cheapest electric car in the country which has been launched at an ex-showroom price of Rs 7,98,000. The MG Comet EV rivals the Tata Tiago EV in the Indian market with prices starting at Rs 8.69 lakh, ex-showroom.

Let us tell you that the design of MG Comet EV is based on the Wuling Air EV sold in China. Although the company has launched many updates to this electric car in India. The MG Comet EV has been built on the Global Small Electric Vehicle platform. This platform is being used by many companies making small electric cars in China.

Available in 2 and 4-seater options
The company has introduced MG Comet EV to be launched in India in two and four seater variants. The length of this electric car is 2,599mm and width is 1,505mm, while in the global market the company is also selling it in long wheelbase variant.

Features are great too
The MG Comet EV features two 10.25-inch screens, one for the infotainment system and the other for the instrument cluster. Apart from this, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay have been given in the car. This car has been given full LED lighting and charging port in the front. Apart from this, the car also gets safety features like ABS, TPMS, reverse camera, sensors and dual front airbags with 12-inch alloy wheels.

Booking will start soon
After the launch in India, the company has started preparing to start its booking. The bookings for the MG Comet EV are set to commence from 15th May 2023. At the same time, from April 27, the company has started the test drive of this electric car in select cities.

Battery, Range and Charging
In MG Comet EV, the company has given 17.3 kWh battery pack. It has a range of up to 230 km on a full charge which is certified by ARAI. The battery used in this car is IP67 rated and comes with protection against water and dust. The company claims that the cost of running the Comet EV for a month comes to just Rs 519, which is equivalent to the cost of a pizza, provided it is driven 1,000 kilometers in a month.
