Let us tell you that due to strong buying in selected stocks in the local stock market on Wednesday, amid the trend of weakness in the global markets, the standard indices closed with gains for the third consecutive day in the week.

BSE’s 30-share index Sensex climbed 169.87 points, or 0.28 percent, to close at 60,300.58 points. At one time it had jumped up to 232.08 points during trading. The National Stock Exchange’s Nifty also gained 44.35 points, or 0.25 percent, to reach 17,813.60 points.

According to analysts, trading activity was upbeat on demand from large companies such as IndusInd Bank, Nestle India and HCL Technologies. However, the pace of growth was affected due to continued foreign capital outflows and weak global cues.

Among the companies included in the Sensex, POWERGRID registered the highest gain of 2.59 percent. Along with this, shares of IndusInd Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Nestle, HCL Tech, Axis Bank, Tata Motors, HDFC Bank, Tata Consultancy Services and HDFC were also rising.
