Jiah Khan Death Case: Suraj Pancholi has breathed a sigh of relief after being acquitted in the Jiah Khan suicide case. On April 28, Sooraj Pancholi was acquitted after a 10-year long trial. Now in a recent interview, Suraj Pancholi has broken his silence on this matter and has said that he was in a relationship with Jia for 5 months, but only his love was not enough for Jia. Jia also needed the love of the family.
I haven’t been able to sleep peacefully for 10 years – Sooraj Pancholi
Suraj Pancholi told in a conversation with Bombay Times, ‘This is a huge burden from my shoulders. In the last 10 years, even when I was in a relationship, I could not give my 100% to it because my future was not sure. Now I can plan my career. It doesn’t matter what you have in life, beyond fame, money and success what you need most is peace. I am not living peacefully for the last 10 years. I used to think about this every night before sleeping. As soon as I woke up, I thought about it and it happened not only with me, but also with my father (Aditya Pancholi), mother (Zarina Wahab) and sister (Sana). I have not yet been able to accept all this that it is all over. I still remain free.
‘Jiya needed the love of the family’
Talking about Jia’s depression, Sooraj Pancholi said, ‘I sent a friend request to Jia on Facebook. She was a beautiful girl and had done a few films. She returned after about a year and we became friends. I was only in a relationship with Jia for five months and I didn’t know what she was going through. She needed love not only from her boyfriend but also from her family. While she wanted him to support and understand her, Jiya was under a lot of pressure to support her family – two younger half-sisters, mother and their friends. She was the only earning member and was unable to find work that would help her do so. I didn’t know the seriousness of the situation then, when I was 20 years old, but I told his mother about his depression and he needed help.
Jia Khan did not write suicide letter
Suraj Pancholi further said, ‘He did not have that emotional support. She was only with me. When I met Jiah initially and we were not in a relationship, she tried to cut off her hand in 2012 with the intention of killing herself. I called Rabiyaji in London. She told me then that she was coming to London on the next flight, but she did not show up for months. Was this a normal parent-child relationship? I was there for him and during that time we fell in love. She was a great person but my love for her was not enough. He needed family love. I could have said a lot in the court, but I didn’t because I want the family to have peace, but accusing me is no way. The court observed that the suicide letter attributed to Jiah was not written by her and was handed over to the police a few days after it was given to the media. The judgment copy states, “The circumstances raise serious doubts about the genuine authorship of the said letter.”
