Dehradun. Police recovered Rs 1.70 crore in cash from the house of an accountant of a private company in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun. The accountant lives in Nehru Colony, Dehradun. On enquiry, the accountant could not explain anything clearly about so much money. He could not even present any document regarding the money. Black money and betting on cricket in Uttarakhand
According to the police, he was informed that a huge amount of cash was kept in a house located in Friends Enclave. It is being said that the accountant places bets in the IPL. However, this angle has not come up in the initial investigation. Due to excess of cash, the police had to bring cash counting machines.
According to reports, the accountant’s father is also in the same profession. The family is originally from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. He lives in a rented house in Dehradun. When the police questioned the father and son about the cash, both gave different answers.
The father said that he has sold the house in Uttar Pradesh and the money is his. However, he could not produce any document for the same. At the same time, the son said that the money belongs to the same company in which he works. Now, the police have informed the Income Tax Department, which will further investigate the matter.
Bet on IPL cricket in Uttarakhand
Two days before this incident, the Dehradun police had arrested three bookies for betting on IPL cricket. One and a half dozen ATM cards and 24000 cash were found from them. Police had received information that Nehru Colony Police had received a lead that betting was being done in a house located in Saraswati Vihar D Block. The police raided on 26 April.
