Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangaswamy: Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy on Sunday (April 30) called on External Affairs Minister S. Urged Jaishankar to take immediate action to evacuate the people of the union territory from violence-hit Sudan.
Addressing Jaishankar, the Chief Minister said, “I appreciate the steps taken by the Ministry of External Affairs to evacuate the stranded Indians from the trouble-torn Sudan.” I will be grateful if you bring back the people of Puducherry who are stuck in Sudan.
Announcement of Operation Cauvery
The External Affairs Minister on Monday announced the launch of ‘Operation Kaveri’ to bring back Indians stranded in the African country. Another batch of 229 people were brought home on Sunday as part of a mission to evacuate Indians stranded in violence-hit Sudan.
Let us tell you that after the civil war in Sudan, the Government of India is running ‘Operation Kaveri’. Under which the Indians trapped in the African country are being brought safely. According to reports, the Indian Air Force has brought back more than 2300 people so far.
2300 people reached India
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar tweeted and informed that “A C-130J Indian Air Force aircraft has landed in New Delhi with 40 passengers. Till now around 2300 people have reached India.” There were 229 passengers on board the 7th flight from Jeddah to Bangalore on Sunday. On Sunday, Minister of State for External Affairs Muraleedharan tweeted, Operation Kaveri is bringing citizens back home. The seventh flight carrying 229 passengers left Jeddah, bound for Bengaluru.”

Under Operation Kaveri, 365 Indians from Sudan reached Delhi on Saturday (April 29) evening. While an aircraft carrying 231 Indian passengers reached the national capital on Saturday morning. At the same time, a ceasefire has been called in Sudan, but many countries including India are trying to evacuate their citizens from a conflict-ridden country.
