Wrestlers Protest: Delhi Police has provided security to seven women complainants who have made sexual harassment allegations against Wrestling Federation chief and MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The Delhi Police provided security to the complainants on the directions of the Supreme Court.
This development has come to light two days after the FIR was registered against the WFI chief. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is BJP MP from Kaiserganj Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh.
Yogeshwar Dutt said – now focus on the game
Meanwhile, Olympic medalist wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt has said that wrestlers should now focus on their sport as an FIR has been lodged against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Yogeshwar Dutt is a member of the committee probing allegations of sexual harassment of wrestlers.
‘This work should have been done three months back’
Talking to news agency ANI, Yogeshwar Dutt said, “The police will take action only when they are given a report.” Never does sitting at home. The wrestlers should have done this work three months back. I had already said that if the wrestlers want to do anything, they should report to the police.
He said, “The law will take its own course, justice will be done from the court only.” Two committees were formed. One was formed by the Olympic Association, one by the Sports Ministry. The committee cannot prove anyone guilty and innocent. The committee does not have this power. The power is only with the court that who has to be punished, who has to be proved innocent. The only work of the committee is to listen to both the sides and submit the report further.
