India’s First Water Metro: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to start the first water metro in the country. PM will flag off India’s first water metro tomorrow i.e. on 25 April 2023 in Kochi. This has been tweeted from the official Twitter handle of PM Modi. In which the PM has said that this is a significant increase in the infrastructure of Kochi. Kochi Water Metro will be dedicated to the nation. This will ensure better connectivity to Kochi.

According to information, the Kochi Water Metro has been built at a cost of Rs 1,136.83 crore. It has 78 electric boats and 38 terminals.
Transport and tourism sector will get a boost
This water metro will be eco-friendly and fully air-conditioned. It will serve to connect Kochi and its 10 surrounding islands. The Kerala government has said that this will give a boost to the transport and tourism sector. The Kerala government has jointly funded the Kochi Water Metro project with Germany’s KFW.
The journey from High Court to Vipin will be less than 20 minutes
Under this project, Kochi Water Metro will be operated in the first phase from High Court-Vypin Terminals to Vittila-Kakkanad Terminals. It is being claimed that the journey from High Court to Vypin can be covered in less than 20 minutes by water metro. While it will take around 25 minutes to travel from Vytila to Kakkanad.
This water metro service will continue daily from 7 am to 8 pm. During this time when there will be peak hours, the water metro will be run every 15 minutes.
Know what will be the ticket fare of water metro
According to media reports, the minimum fare for the water metro will be Rs 20. Passengers can use the Kochi One app to book water metro tickets. Along with this, passes can also be made for daily commuters by water metro. Not only this, the passenger can travel in Kochi Metro train and Water Metro using the same smart card, because this water metro is a joint venture of Kochi Water Metro Limited and Kochi Metro Rail Limited.
