There has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel even today i.e. on 28 April. Petrol in Delhi costs Rs 96.72, while diesel is being sold at Rs 89.62 per litre. Whereas in Mumbai, petrol is priced at Rs 106.31 and diesel at Rs 94.27 per litre. Petrol prices remain above Rs 100 a liter in 16 states of the country.
The costliest fuel in India is being sold in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan. Here the price of one liter of petrol has reached Rs 113.30 per liter and the price of diesel has reached Rs 98.07 per litre. Whereas in Maharashtra’s Parbhani, petrol is being sold at Rs 109.26 per liter and diesel at Rs 95.66 per litre.
Crude oil (Brent crude) remains below $ 80 per barrel. Today it is trading around $78. Due to the fall in the price of crude oil, the prices of petrol and diesel in the country may come down. Oil marketing companies release petrol and diesel rates daily at 6 am after reviewing the prices.
No change in prices after May 2022
The last time petrol-diesel prices were changed in May 2022. Then excise duty was reduced by Rs 8 on petrol and Rs 6 per liter on diesel. Due to this, the prices of petrol and diesel were reduced by Rs 9.5 and Rs 7 respectively. In July 2022, the Maharashtra government had cut VAT on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 3 per litre.
Petrol above 100 in 16 states
Petrol is above Rs 100 per liter in 16 states of the country. Petrol is being sold above Rs 100 in all districts of Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Manipur, Telangana, Punjab, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Odisha, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. Whereas diesel is also above Rs 100 in Odisha, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
