The difficulties of National President of Youth Congress Srinivas BV are increasing. The local court in Bengaluru refused to grant anticipatory bail to expelled party leader Angkita Dutta in the harassment case. In such a situation, the sword of arrest is hanging on Srinivas BV.
In fact, Srinivas wife had filed an anticipatory bail petition in the Additional City Civil and Sessions Court of Bangalore to avoid arrest. The petition was heard by Justice KS Jyothishri on Thursday (April 27, 2023). Subsequently, on Friday (April 28, 2023), the court dismissed Srinivasan BV’s petition.
The lawyer of Angkita Dutta, who was expelled from the Congress after alleging harassment, has said that Srinivasan’s wife had also gone to the Gauhati High Court. But now he is claiming that he did not go to any other court. The lawyer also said that Srinivasan is an influential person. So, on getting bail, he can destroy the evidence. The allegations against him are serious, so there is a need for custodial interrogation.
Relief was not received even from the Guwahati High Court.
Let us tell you that earlier Srinivas BV had approached the Gauhati High Court to quash the FIR against him. But the court, while hearing on Wednesday (April 26, 2023), said that it would not be appropriate to give relief without observing the victim’s statement and case diary.
Significantly, Angkita, who was the president of the Assam Youth Congress, had accused Youth Congress national president BV Srinivas (Srinivas BV) and Youth Congress secretary in-charge Vardhan Yadav of gender discrimination and profanity. It was said that even Rahul Gandhi did not pay heed to his complaints and the process of harassment continued. He had said, “Srinivas has been harassing and harassing her for the last six months. make sexual remarks. use profanity. On complaining about this to senior party officials, they are threatening them with dire consequences.
After this, Angkita lodged a complaint on April 19 at the Dispur police station in Guwahati. On his complaint, a case was registered against Congress leader Srinivas under sections 509/294/341/352/354/354A(iv)/506 of IPC.
According to Angkita Dutta, she was being harassed for about six months. Rahul Gandhi was also informed about this during ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, but no action was taken. She alleges that she was discriminated against for being a woman. Following these allegations, the Assam Congress first issued a show cause notice to Angkita, then expelled her from the party for 6 years. At the same time, Srinivas was given a place in the list of star campaigners released for Karnataka.
