IPL-16: Lucknow beat Punjab by 56 runs, Supergiants scored the biggest score of the season, Yash Thakur took 4 wickets
THe Fact India: In the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), on Friday, Lucknow Supergiants defeated Punjab Kings by a huge margin of 56 runs. This is Lucknow’s fifth win in the current season and has come second in the points table. Batting first, Lucknow Supergiants scored 257 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Punjab Kings were all out for 201 runs in 19.5 overs. Lucknow has scored the highest total in this IPL season and the second highest total in the history of the league.
Punjab won the toss and elected to field at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Electing to bat first, Lucknow Supergiants got off to a brisk start. The team scored 74 runs in the powerplay. Although the team lost the wicket of KL Rahul. The captain got out after scoring 12 runs. After that Kyle Meyers and Ayush Badoni shared a half-century partnership. Kagiso Rabada took two wickets from Punjab. Arshdeep, Sam Karan, Liam Livingstone got one wicket each. Chasing the target from the mountain of 258 runs, the beginning of Punjab was not special.
