Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023: There is not much time left in the assembly elections to be held in Karnataka on May 10. In such a situation, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has made a promise in an election meeting. He said that if the Congress comes to power in the state, he will set up a jeans park in Bellary and make the city the jeans capital of India.
Rahul Gandhi made this announcement while addressing a street corner meeting in Bellary on Friday (April 28) evening. Here the Congress leader said that he wants to see Made in Bellary and Made in Karnataka tag on all the jeans worn around the world. With this, he taunted the BJP and said that the government of this party has made Karnataka a center of corruption. Rahul said that considering the amount of loot done by the BJP here, the people of Bellary have suffered the most.
‘This is not the promise of any government, but my promise’
The Congress leader said, “I visited some jeans manufacturing units in Bellary during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which passed through the city. I saw the plight of women working in those units. I want to promise you that we will make Bellary the jeans capital of India. This is not the promise of any government, but my promise. We will set up a jeans manufacturing park. I wish to see the day when we will see Made in Bellary and Made in Karnataka tags on all the jeans worn by the youth across the world. I will tell the Chief Minister of Karnataka and get this work done, this is my promise.
Rahul Gandhi said that if the Congress forms the government in Karnataka, he would set up a garment park and a jeans park in Bellary at a cost of Rs 5,000 crore. Gandhi said, “Bellary has become the center of BJP’s corruption, probably nowhere would have looted as much as BJP has looted here. I want to bring change in Bellary, not only in politics but also in your life. He said that he usually does not make personal promises, but he will definitely fulfill it.
Told PM Modi a liar
Rahul also taunted PM Narendra Modi and said that wherever he goes, he makes false promises. Rahul said that the PM had promised that he would put Rs 15 lakh in your account and end the menace of black money, but it has not happened yet. Gandhi said that he does not make false promises, Bellary will be made the jeans capital of India and you will see that in five years Bellary will be the jeans capital. Gandhi recalled how the BJP rejected the demand for Article 371(J) granting special status to the Kalyana Karnataka region, which was later shown to have been fulfilled by the Congress soon after coming to power at the Centre.
He said, “Article 371 (J) was rejected by the BJP, but we had promised and we fulfilled it as soon as we came to power. It is because of Article 371(J) that lakhs of students from this region got medical and engineering seats and more than 25,000 youth got jobs. BJP is not implementing Article 371(J) properly. BJP government [कल्याण कर्नाटक क्षेत्र विकास बोर्ड] Gave ₹3,000 crores to India and spent only ₹1,200 crores out of it. There are 50,000 vacancies in this sector. After coming to power, we will fill all the vacancies.”
