Bangalore. The Karnataka Education Department on Friday declared the 2nd PUC (Class 12) annual board exam results. In this the girls outshone the boys. A total of 74.67 percent students passed the board exams. 80.25 percent of girls who took the exam passed, while 69.05 percent of boys were successful. In the examination held in March, 3,49,901 boys appeared and 2,41,607 passed. Whereas out of 3,52,166 girls who took the exam, 2,82,602 passed.
In Arts stream, Tabassum Shaikh has topped the state by scoring 593 marks out of 600. She is a student of NMKRV College in Jayanagar, Bangalore.
Ananya, a student of Alwaj College, has topped the commerce section. He has scored 600 out of 600 marks.
In science stream, Vigyan Kaushik has topped with 596 marks out of 600.
Dakshina Kannada district has emerged as the top district in the coastal region of Karnataka and Yadgir district has scored the lowest results in the Hyderabad-Karnataka region.
Out of 7,02,067 students who took the exam, 5,24,209 have passed. Other coastal districts Udupi and Uttara Kannada are at the second and fourth position respectively. Kodagu district is at the third position.
23,754 students remained absent in all the papers.
As per the official release, 20 students with autism, eight with cerebral palsy, 170 with hearing impairment, 242 with learning disability, 571 with locomotor impairment, 90 with mental retardation, 89 with multiple disabilities, 89 with speech impairment 11 with visual impairment and 429 with visual impairment clear board exams.(IANS)
