Jaish e Mohammed Suspect: Jammu and Kashmir Police has claimed to have arrested a terrorist associate of Jaish-e-Mohammed organization in Handwara, North Kashmir. The captured terrorist has been identified as Khurshid Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Amargarh area of North Kashmir.
Police said that a joint team of Handwara Police and Army stopped a person during routing checking at Ganai Mohalla Pajalpora Magam. The man tried to flee on seeing the jawans conducting the search, but was caught by the alert joint team. On searching the detained person, a hand grenade and other objectionable material were recovered from his possession.

Army and police personnel suspected the man’s actions and signaled him to stop. On this he ran fast, but the jawans chased him and caught him. When he was searched on the spot, a grenade and other objectionable items were found with him.
Was working for Jaish-e-Mohammed
The police spokesperson further said that preliminary investigation suggests that he was working as a terrorist associate for the banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed. Police said that FIR number 95/2023 has been registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Handwara and further investigation has been initiated.
Suspect continues to be questioned
It has been told in the statement that the suspect was taken to Handwara police station. Police is interrogating Khurshid Ahmed Bhat. Khurshid told during interrogation that he was about to lob a grenade at Pajalpora Chowk. The police is now running a campaign to nab his other accomplices on the basis of clues received from Khurshid.
