Iran: By voting in Iran’s parliament on Sunday, the industry minister of the country was dismissed in the case of alleged mismanagement. The Parliament took this decision in view of the widespread agitation against the government in the country. According to local media reports, 75 percent of the members voted in the impeachment session to remove Reza Fatemi Amin.
Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Kaliba said that out of 272 MPs present in the parliament, 162 voted in favor of sacking Minister Reza Fatmi Amin. There are a total of 290 members in the house. Fatmi Amin had earlier come out of impeachment in 2022. The Speaker of Parliament announced the results during a session broadcast live on state television.
the president defended
Iran’s President Ibrahim Raisi defended Amin, saying that there has been development in all areas under the minister’s charge. He requested the MPs to reinstate the minister. He even said in his argument that the automobile industry is based on assembly and domestication, so there is a problem of fluctuating sanctions. He said that the point is that stability is necessary in the ministry.
Significantly, in the beginning of this year, the Iranian currency, Riyal had come down to its lowest level against the US dollar. Iranian officials at the time blamed the currency’s decline on a plot by enemies to destabilize the Islamic republic.
People are fed up with inflation
Earlier last year, demonstrations were seen across the country regarding inflation in Iran. Because of this, the government had either reduced the subsidy given on wheat and flour or completely abolished it.
Even then, however, protests against inflation took place in several cities and provinces of Iran, where protesters shouted slogans against the policies of the government. After this the police had to use force to disperse the protesters.
