The 38th match of IPL 2023 was played between Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings. In this match, the Punjab team had to face defeat by 56 runs at their home ground. In this high-scoring match, the Lucknow batsmen thrashed the Punjab bowlers. In this match played at the PCA Stadium in Mohali, the Punjab Kings bowlers wasted runs which cost them the scoreboard. After the match, Punjab captain Shikhar Dhawan looked very disappointed with his bowlers. He said a big thing about his bowlers.
Dhawan said this
Punjab Kings skipper Shikhar Dhawan said that his team had to pay the price for giving away unnecessary runs after their 56-run defeat in the high-scoring IPL match against Lucknow Supergiants. Sent in to bat first, Lucknow scored 257 for five, which is the second highest score in the IPL. In response, the Punjab team was all out for 201 runs with one ball remaining. Dhawan said after the match that his team had given away too many runs for which they had to bear the brunt. Dhawan has clearly told his bowlers the reason for the defeat.
On the decision to bowl first after winning the toss, he said that he felt that the strategy of going into this match with an extra fast bowler proved wrong while KL Rahul fielded an extra spinner. I tried changing something that didn’t work today but no problem. This is a good lesson for me and now I will come back stronger.
Dhawan’s return good sign for Punjab Kings
The team of Punjab Kings may have lost this match but their team captain Shikhar Dhawan has returned in this match after an injury break. Although Dhawan could score only one run in this match, but his return will give the team more strength in the league. Dhawan was in good form this year but injury forced him to take a break. Dhawan is now fully fit and will once again score runs for the team. Dhawan has scored 234 runs in 5 matches so far this season at an average of 78.00 and a strike rate of 145.34.
