While the Rajasthan government is claiming to provide relief to the public by setting up inflation relief camps before the elections, on the other hand electricity consumers are being hit by fuel surcharge. According to the information, electricity prices are going to increase once again in the state, where the government is going to collect fuel surcharge from the consumers of the state, after which the electricity bill will be higher in the houses for the coming 3 months. Let us inform that the Gehlot government in Rajasthan will charge fuel surcharge of 45 paise per unit for the next three months, after which every electricity consumer will now have to pay an additional Rs 45 for the consumption of 100 units of electricity.
Let us tell you that the fuel surcharge being taken by the government on the basis of each unit will be added to the total electricity bill. This fuel surcharge will be charged for three months. At the same time, it has been told that fuel surcharge will be charged only for those consumers who consume more than 50 units of electricity every month. Apart from this, additional fuel surcharge will not have to be paid on irrigation connections of consumers and farmers who consume up to 50 units or less electricity every month.
Let us tell you that the fuel surcharge is being taken by the government due to the expensive rates of coal purchased from April to June last year. Power companies say that last year, after the non-supply of coal from Chhattisgarh, the government had taken expensive coal from Mahanadi coal mines.
Here BJP has attacked this decision of Gehlot government. Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Rajendra Rathore has said that the state government is adding fuel to the fire in front of the inflation-stricken public by doing corruption in the purchase of coal. Rathore said that the government, which has been touting relief from inflation relief camps, has made preparations to collect fuel surcharge from 1.39 crore electricity consumers of the state.
