China has been continuously violating border management agreements along the Line of Actual Control. The Galwan Valley and Tawang conflicts are the result of his actions. This is the reason why the bitterness in India’s relations with China is continuously increasing. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that India wants to ensure that its relations with all countries continue to grow without seeking exclusivity. He said, however, that India’s relations with Beijing fall into a different category because of the “unusual” nature of their relationship as a result of China violating border management agreements.
Addressing the youth of the Diplomatic School on Friday, Jaishankar, who arrived in Santo Domingo on his first official visit to the Dominican Republic, also said that India has seen a dramatic expansion in connectivity, contacts and cooperation in the region. However, Pakistan would be an exception because of cross-border terrorism, he said. Jaishankar said, “Whether it is America, Europe, Russia or Japan, we are trying to ensure that all these relations grow without seeking exclusivity. China, however, falls into a different category because of the border dispute and the unusual nature of our relationship. This is a result of its violation of agreements regarding border management.
China’s attitude on LAC is aggressive and provocative
Significantly, India has been criticizing the deployment of a large number of troops and its aggressive attitude by China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. The Foreign Minister said, “India’s biggest priorities are obviously in its neighbourhood. Given its size and economic power, it is a matter of collective benefit that India adopts a liberal and non-reciprocal approach to cooperation with smaller neighboring countries and this is what we have done in the last decade under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
