In Kanpur, FIR has been registered in three police stations against 1700 people for offering Eid Namaz on the road. Police say that despite the ban, prayers were offered on the road outside Jajmau, Babupurwa and Badi Idgah Benajhabar on April 22. FIR has been registered against 200 to 300 worshipers in Jajmau, 40 to 50 in Babupurwa, 1500 in Bajaria. These include members of the Idgah committee. Now the Kanpur Police has issued Section-186 (obstructing government work, Section-188 (gathering crowd in violation of Section-144), Section-283 (blocking the way by gathering crowd), Section-341 (wrongful obstruction) and public Obstructing the service and registered a case under section 353. The member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board has expressed displeasure over the police FIR.
Member of Muslim Personal Law Board. Suleman said that a particular sect is being targeted. It seems that one religion has become a nation. Mo. Suleman said that prayers have been held inside the campus in the mosque and Idgahs. There is no such big Idgah in Babupurwa. If space is not available for 10 minutes, the worshipers lay down on the road. In Babupurwa too, Namaz was held on the road. However, the sub-inspector of Babupurwa lodged an FIR.
He said that it is unfortunate that the case has not been filed for offering Namaz on the road. Rather, obstructing public service, which is a serious offence. Section of the second epidemic act has been imposed. This is the mind set of our government, on which such enthusiastic policemen are working. This is condemnable, not good for the society.
