The Union Minister said that by 2024 all the deprived villages will be covered with 4G network. Access to 4G network in these villages will bring socio-economic change and reduce digital distance. The Union Cabinet had approved a project in July 2022 at a total cost of Rs 26,316 crore for the penetration of 4G mobile services in villages across the country. This project will provide 4G mobile services in 24,680 villages in remote and inaccessible areas. In this project, there is a provision to include 20 percent additional villages due to rehabilitation, new settlement, service withdrawal etc. by the existing operators.
