There has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel even today i.e. on 27th April. Petrol in Delhi costs Rs 96.72, while diesel is being sold at Rs 89.62 per litre. Whereas in Mumbai, petrol is priced at Rs 106.31 and diesel at Rs 94.27 per litre. Petrol prices remain above Rs 100 a liter in 16 states of the country. Today there has been a decline in crude oil (Brent crude) prices. It has come down to $78 per barrel.
No change in prices after May 2022
The last time petrol-diesel prices were changed in May 2022. Then excise duty was reduced by Rs 8 on petrol and Rs 6 per liter on diesel. Due to this, the prices of petrol and diesel were reduced by Rs 9.5 and Rs 7 respectively. In July 2022, the Maharashtra government had cut VAT on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 3 per litre.
Petrol above 100 in 16 states
Petrol is above Rs 100 per liter in 16 states of the country. Petrol has reached Rs 100 in all districts of Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Manipur, Telangana, Punjab, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Odisha, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. On the other hand, if we talk about diesel, it has crossed more than 100 rupees in Odisha, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
Price may decrease in coming days
Due to the fall in the price of crude oil, the prices of petrol and diesel in the country may come down. Crude oil (Brent) has come down to $78 per barrel in the international market. Oil companies have made up for the old losses on petrol and diesel. They are now getting profit on the retail sale of petrol and diesel. In such a situation, there may be a decrease in their prices in the coming days.
Petrol-diesel rates are fixed daily at 6 am
Oil marketing companies decide the rates of petrol and diesel on a daily basis after reviewing the prices. Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum issue revised rates of petrol and diesel daily at 6 am.
