Politics has started in Rajasthan after the Congress government changed the name of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana to Indira Gandhi Gas Subsidy Scheme. It is to be known that 12 LPG cylinders will be given for Rs 500 per year to the families coming under the Ujjwala Yojana. However, the BJP alleged that the state government announced the name change to gain political mileage and show loyalty to the Gandhi family. BJP MLA and spokesperson Ramlal Sharma said that even today the Congress cannot get out of the Gandhi family. All decisions are taken to make the family happy. That is why Ujjwala Yojana is being named after Indira Gandhi. He said that the party cannot get out of Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru. Congress worships dynasty.
Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the state Satish Poonia said that the Congress wants to take political advantage. In my knowledge, names of other schemes are being changed on the lines of Ayushman Bharat. The name of Ayushman Bharat was changed to Chiranjeevi Yojana. Ujjwala scheme is being renamed for cheap marketing. This is a failed attempt to garner votes. When Food and Civil Supplies Minister Pratap Singh Khachariawas was asked about the name change, he said who is changing the name? Indira Gandhi Cylinder Subsidy Scheme is for the benefit of the poor. You are not giving subsidy in Ujjwala Yojana. When the Congress government was in power, LPG cylinder was available for Rs.400. Today it is Rs 1150. We are giving him 500 rupees. Center is not giving cylinders for Rs.500. If they had given, we would have thanked them with folded hands. We will give cylinder for 500 rupees. If the public is getting benefited then let it happen.
Both BJP and Congress have a history of changing the names of government schemes. The Gehlot government changed the names of many schemes brought by the previous BJP government. Annapurna Yojana started by the previous government was converted into Indira Rasoi Yojana and Ayushman Bharat into Chiranjeevi. The previous Vasundhara Raje government had changed the name of Rajiv Gandhi Seva Kendras to Atal Seva Kendras. Now when the Congress came to power, the name of these centers was changed to Rajiv Gandhi Atal Seva Kendra. In the Vasundhara government, the name of Rajiv Shiksha Sankul was changed to Dr. Radhakrishnan Shiksha Sankul. The Gehlot government removed the photographs of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay from all government documents. Deendayal Upadhyay Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme was renamed as Chief Minister Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme. The name of Guru Golwalkar Grameen Janbhagidari Yojana has been changed to Mahatma Gandhi Grameen Janbhagidari Yojana. Chief Minister Jal Swavalamban Yojana is now Rajiv Gandhi Jal Swavalamban Yojana. Bhamashah is now Rajasthan Jan Aadhar Yojana. The important question is whether the name change will help the present government in the state in the assembly elections to be held by the end of this year.
