General Asim Munir will replace Qamar Javed Bajwa as Pakistan’s new army chief

The new army chief has been announced in Pakistan. General Asim Munir will be the new Army Chief of Pakistan in place of General Qamar Javed Bajwa. This information has been given by Maryam Aurangzeb, a minister in the Government of Pakistan.

Maryam Aurangzeb told that Pakistan’s PM Shahbaz Sharif has decided to appoint General Sahir Shamshad Mirza as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Lieutenant General Syed Asim Munir as the Army Chief.

The President of Pakistan Arif Alvi will give the final seal on both these appointments. Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khwaja Asif said that these appointments have been made according to the law and the constitution. He appealed that the country should refrain from looking at it through a political lens.
