KJ Srivatsan, Jaipur: On the information of about 400 passengers of Rajasthan returning from Gangotri Dham being trapped due to landslide near Gabnani in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand state, ADG SDRF Rajasthan Sushmit Biswas by talking to his batchmate and local administration in Uttarakhand and taking them to safe places. SDRF Commandant Rajkumar Gupta said that on Thursday night, ADG Biswas received information about 400 passengers returning to Rajasthan after visiting Gangotri Dham, Uttarakhand from the office of the Chief Minister, being stranded due to heavy rains in Gabnani area of Uttarkashi district. Seeing the seriousness of the information, he immediately contacted his counterpart police officers in Uttarakhand and his batchmates Dipam Seth and Dr. P.V.K.
According to the information given by the Uttarakhand administration, the road between Uttarkashi and Harshil (Halgu Guard and Gabnani) has been blocked due to landslides since yesterday evening due to excessive rainfall in the area. Many citizens of other states including Rajasthan are stranded at the spot. No casualty has been confirmed so far and all the passengers are safe.
SDRF ADG Biswas and Commandant Gupta talked to the Uttarakhand administration and evacuated about 400 stranded citizens of Bhilwara, Ajmer and other places of Rajasthan to safer places. Proper arrangements for lodging and food were also made for the passengers. Along with this, after talking to the passengers, he got complete information about the help being given by the local administration.
