The matter came into the limelight after Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri’s tweet in which he said that India always welcomes those who have sought asylum in the country. Puri said that in a historic decision, all Rohingya refugees will be shifted to EWS flats in Bakkarwala area of Delhi. They will be provided with basic facilities, UNHRC ID and round the clock Delhi Police security.
After this tweet of the Bus Minister, there was a stir in the Ministry of Home Affairs and in order to control the damage, the Ministry clarified Hardeep Singh Puri’s statement as wrong.
