What is e-pan
E-PAN is a PAN given in PDF format instead of a physical card. The e-PAN card in PDF format will be sent to the e-mail ID mentioned in the PAN application form. In case a physical PAN card is not required, the PAN applicant will have to mention the same at the time of submitting the PAN application. In such cases, the email ID will be mandatory and the e-PAN card will be sent to the PAN applicant on the email ID. Physical PAN card will not be sent in such cases. The fee for e-PAN card is different from the actual PAN card.

What is the penalty for non-compliance with the provisions related to PAN?
Penalty under section 272B is levied if the taxpayer fails to comply with the provisions related to PAN. Failure to comply with the provisions of section 139A will attract a penalty of Rs 10,000 under section 272B and a fine of Rs 10,000 for production of invalid PAN or failure to produce PAN.
What is the validity of PAN?
The PAN once obtained is valid for the lifetime of the PAN holder across India. It is not affected by change of address or change of Assessing Officer etc. However, any change in the PAN database (i.e. the details provided at the time of obtaining PAN) shall be reported to the Income Tax Department by furnishing the details in the form (“Request for New PAN Card or/and Change or Correction in PAN Data”) should go.

What documents will act as proof in case of applicants company started outside India / unincorporated entities formed outside India?
1. A copy of the Certificate of Registration issued in the country where the applicant is located. It has to be attested by an authorized official of the “Apostille” or Embassy of India or High Commission or Consulate in the country where the applicant is located or overseas branches of Scheduled Banks registered in India.
2. A copy of the certificate of registration issued in India or a copy of the approval granted by the Indian authorities to establish an office in India
