Subsidy for free electricity in agriculture sector is 7 thousand crores
When Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema presented the state budget on June 27, he had said that in providing 300 units of free electricity in the state, an additional burden of Rs 1,800 crore would be imposed on the exchequer. Punjab provides free subsidized electricity in various areas. The subsidy for free electricity to the agriculture sector alone is Rs 7 thousand crore.
