Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has compared the working style of India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing people at the Freedom Struggle and Beyond book launch program in the capital Delhi.
Congress Lok Sabha MP and senior leader Shashi Tharoor said, in 1962, when the war with China was going on, Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru called a session of Parliament and it was discussed in Parliament, but today it is about China, especially in Galwan Valley. Even asking questions in Parliament about what happened is not being allowed.
There was no discussion in our Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha regarding the Chinese attack, despite the martyrdom of 20 Indian soldiers, there was no discussion in the House.
Along with this, Tharoor has also compared the working style and ideology of both the prime ministers regarding democracy, democratic institution and freedom of thought. He said that our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given more speeches in foreign Parliament than in Indian Parliament, which is the exact opposite of Nehru. According to Nehru, democracy used to mean giving importance to the institutions of the country.
The book Freedom Struggle and Beyond is written by Praveen Davar.
