New Delhi: Jagdeep Dhankhar will be the 14th Vice President of the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met him at his residence after the results of the post of Vice President were declared. Apart from this, politicians from across the country including Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi congratulated Jagdeep Dhankhar on becoming the Vice President. Let us tell you that Dhankhar got a total of 528 votes. A total of 725 MPs voted in the Vice Presidential election.

The opposition’s vice presidential candidate, Margaret Alva, received a total of 182 votes. In the morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Dharmendra Pradhan among others cast their votes for the Vice Presidential election. Explain that all MPs of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, including nominated members, vote in the Vice Presidential election. The next Vice President of the country will take the oath of office on August 11. The term of current Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu ends on August 10.
NDA candidate Dhankhar, a lawyer by profession, joined politics in 1989. He became the Governor of West Bengal in July 2019 and since then has been making headlines for his turbulent relationship with the Mamata Banerjee government. He tendered his resignation as the Governor of West Bengal. Earlier, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati announced her party’s support for Dhankhar. At the same time, Alva had filed her nomination for the Vice Presidential election on July 19.
