A special CBI court in Jharkhand on Saturday announced the sentence for the murder of Dhanbad judge Uttam Anand. The court had on July 28 found the accused guilty of killing Judge Uttam Anand. An auto rickshaw driver and another among the culprits have been sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment. On the other hand, the defense lawyer says that the convicts will approach the High Court against this decision.
The accused were convicted under these sections

The trial in the murder case began in February. The court had recorded the statements of 58 witnesses during the hearing. After the murder, the police had recovered CCTV footage which showed Judge Uttam Anand jogging on one side of the road at Randhir Verma Chowk in Dhanbad when the auto rickshaw came towards him, hit him from behind and left the spot. absconded.
Initially SIT was investigating the matter
Initially an SIT was formed to probe the case, but later the Jharkhand government handed over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The Supreme Court took cognizance of the judge’s murder last year and sought a status report in the matter from the Jharkhand Chief Secretary, DGP. CBI Additional Public Prosecutor Amit Jindal said the court found that both the accused were not intoxicated. Jindal said the court also ruled that it was a case of willful murder.
The accused were convicted just a year after the murder
Let us inform that on July 28, 2021, just a year before the two accused involved in the case were convicted, Uttam Anand was murdered when he had gone on a morning walk. On the other hand, defense lawyer Kumar Bimelendu, while talking to media persons, said that the CBI had termed the theory of murder as fabricated. He said that Lakhan and Rahul will challenge this decision in the High Court.
