New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday said that he has written a letter to the CBI against a decision of former LG Anil Baijal. “I have written to the CBI to investigate the change in attitude of the former LG in opening liquor shops in unauthorized areas,” Sisodia said. Sisodia says that where liquor was not sold earlier, it was also approved.
Delhi’s excise policy has emerged as a tussle between the AAP and the BJP-ruled central government. Before Sisodia, Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena had written to the central probe agency recommending a probe into the liquor policy which was approved by the Aam Aadmi Party government last year.
Sisodia said during a press conference, ‘The new policy was implemented in 2021. But some people in power refused to implement it to benefit a select few. I have written a letter to CBI urging them to investigate how and why this happened.
He said that before approving the new policy, the (East) LG read the policy carefully. He suggested changes. Then we sent them with the amendment in June. He cleared it for the second time. However, now they are bent on closing it.
