New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other Congress leaders, who were detained for protesting on the issue of inflation and unemployment, were released from New Police Lines Kingsway Camp, Police Station late on Friday night.
Ahead of the Congress party’s call for a nationwide protest against inflation and unemployment, Delhi Police had imposed section 144 of CrPC in New Delhi district except Jantar Mantar.
The party has decided to hold an all-India protest on Friday and hold demonstrations outside the residences of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Draupadi Murmu, however, this was denied by the Delhi Police.
Despite not getting permission from Delhi Police, party leaders said they would go ahead with their proposed protest march.
Visuals showed Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra jumping over a police barricade put up near the AICC office here during the party’s protest against inflation and unemployment in Delhi. He was later taken into custody by the police during the Congress protest.
