Delhi Municipal Corporation implemented uniform rates of property tax
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has introduced new property rate rates to bring uniformity in rates post the amalgamation of municipal bodies in the national capital. The new rates of property rates will be applicable from July 16. However, there will be no additional burden on those taxpayers who have already paid their taxes. Simultaneously, instructions have been issued to all the Regional Wealth Tax Officers to prepare an online database of all the properties which come under the purview of paying property tax at the earliest, so as to increase the revenue of the Corporation.
The corporation has determined the property tax category wise. 4 for entertainment and club, for banquet hall, procession 6 for home, for school, college, medical college, engineering college run or aided by government or local body 1, unaided or run by any trust and private institutions Property tax will be calculated using the utility calculator at the rate of 3 for educational institutions, 2 for non-residential properties, 4 for commercial use, 3 for industrial use.
