Minister of State for Culture and Fisheries Cherian on Sunday said that the Indian Constitution gives ample scope to the CPI(M) to “loot” the people living in one place.
Soon after Cherian’s scathing remarks on the Constitution at a party meeting in Pathanamthitta district became public on Tuesday, the Congress-led opposition and the state BJP also launched massive protests demanding his resignation.
Cherian defended himself saying that he did not intend to insult the Constitution. His comment was misunderstood. He apologized for this.
