Ukraine lost 5,500 soldiers in just 2 weeks – Russia’s big claim
Russia’s Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Monday gave President Vladimir Putin an update on the conflict with Ukraine, claiming that Ukraine has lost nearly 5,500 troops during just the past two weeks, killing more than 2,000. As RT reports, the minister gave his second report to the Russian leader. On Sunday, he confirmed that Russian and allied forces had assumed full control of the area that the government of the Lugansk People’s Republic claims after capturing the city of Lisichansk.
Monday’s personal report provided additional details of the outcome of the operation.
According to the Russian minister, Ukrainian troops have damaged 5,469 soldiers in the past two weeks, killing 2,218. The loss of 5,500 soldiers here means that some of these soldiers have been killed, while there are some soldiers about whom no concrete information is clear. That is, the remaining soldiers can also be taken hostage. Shoigu reported that Kyiv suffered the loss of 12 warplanes, six long-range air defense missile systems, 97 rocket artillery launchers and critical hardware, including about 200 tanks and other armor, in the fighting.
