New Delhi: Shiv Sena Chief Whip Sunil Prabhu on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court after Maharashtra Governor directed Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to prove his majority in the Assembly on Wednesday, seeking a hearing by advocate Singhvi today. The court agreed and fixed the time for hearing at 5 pm.
Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Shiv Sena in the Supreme Court, demanded a hearing today itself. He said that the court should hear the matter immediately at 5-6 pm today.
On this, the counsel for the other side, NK Kaul, argued that the decision to conduct the floor test is of the Governor, the court should not interfere in it. The floor test has nothing to do with the matter of disqualification. Along with this, it is not appropriate to demand a hearing today itself.
However, after hearing the arguments of both the sides, the Supreme Court has decided to hear the matter at 5 pm.
Earlier, the Governor has called a special session of the Legislative Assembly tomorrow for the floor test. The special session of the assembly will run from 11 am to 5 pm and during this time Uddhav will have to prove his majority to save his government.
Shivsena will go to Supreme Court
Sanjay Raut’s statement has come to the fore on the floor test order, in which he said that Shiv Sena will go to the Supreme Court against the demand for floor test. During this, Raut alleged that the Constitution was being flouted. BJP and Governor are playing with the Constitution together. Raut termed the demand for floor test as illegal as the matter of disqualification of the MLAs is still pending in the Supreme Court.
The rebels will go to Goa
The rebel MLAs present in Guwahati have started preparations to return to Mumbai. Quoting sources, it is reported that today the rebel MLAs will leave for Goa from Guwahati and 70 rooms have been booked for their stay at Hotel Taj Residency in Goa. It is being told that they will fly to Mumbai tomorrow and go directly to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
Earlier, Kamakhya Eknath Shinde along with the rebel MLAs reached the temple, where amidst tight security, along with some rebel MLAs had darshan of the goddess. After the darshan, Shinde said that tomorrow all the MLAs will go to Mumbai for the floor test and will follow all the procedures.
