New Delhi: By the third day of the third Test between England and New Zealand being played at Headingley, New Zealand’s team has taken a lead of 137 runs. In the second innings of the Kiwi team, 168 runs have been made for 5 wickets in 51.5 overs. On the fourth day, Kiwi batsmen Daryl Mitchell and Tom Bundle will come down to give the team the lead.
Sam Billings will be the replacement
Meanwhile, England has suffered a major setback. England wicketkeeper Ben Fox has tested positive for Covid-19. He will miss the third Test at Headingley. Although Fox was out for a duck in the first innings, England had high hopes from him in the second innings. Sam Billings has been drafted as his replacement.
Fox was unable to keep wickets on Saturday due to a back stiffness. Fox later tested positive after a lateral flow test in the evening. Sam Billings has been in action for Kent in the Vitality Blast but will go straight into the playing XI and keep wickets.
no more covid cases
England said in a statement that apart from him, there is no other Kovid case in the team. The rest of the England team is following health protocols and will conduct tests later if necessary.
Doubts on Fox playing against India
Doubts have arisen over Fox’s Test against India starting on Friday. England, however, said they hoped he would be fit to play. Ben Fox is in good form. He has played many unbeaten innings with a century against New Zealand. India has also been affected by Kovid. Test captain Rohit Sharma has been found to be Kovid positive. India is leading 2-1 in this series. Last year this test was postponed due to Kovid.
