Weather Update: The Southwest Monsoon continues to advance. Monsoon had reached Kerala three days ago on 29th May. Now it is moving towards other states. Meanwhile, pre-monsoon rains have soaked many states. Meanwhile, the rain in Delhi-NCR on Sunday evening has brought relief to the people from the scorching heat.
Two people died in Delhi, while many were injured due to the storm. Several trees were uprooted in the capital, road and air traffic was disrupted and several buildings and vehicles were damaged, including the historic Jama Masjid. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi will remain cloudy throughout the day. However, this weather will not take a severe form like Monday.
According to the IMD, monsoon may reach Delhi, UP, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat and adjoining states by June 25. At the same time, monsoon is expected to arrive in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar around June 15. While the monsoon is expected to knock in Maharashtra and West Bengal by June 10.
According to Skymet Weather, light rain may occur in West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya today. Some areas of Bihar, states like Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Jharkhand etc. will also see rain today.
Light to moderate rain may occur over some parts of Northeast India, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Kerala, Tamil Nadu.
Along with this, there is a possibility of rain in the coastal area of Karnataka, North East Bihar and Western Himalayas. On the other hand, there is a possibility of light rain in the areas of Jharkhand, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Interior Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Konkan and Goa.
