New Delhi: Every coming flood in Assam is causing havoc this year as well. Due to which about 7.20 lakh people of 22 districts were affected. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said that at least 24 people have died in the floods and landslides so far. ASDMA further said, with the help of Indian Army, State Disaster Response Force (SDRAF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and volunteers, around 26,236 people trapped in the floods have been rescued.
The ASDMA on Sunday said that 91,518 affected people are currently living in 269 relief camps across the state. The administration has also set up 152 relief distribution centres. ASDMA further said, “A total of 26,236 stranded people have been rescued with the help of Indian Army, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and volunteers.”
A few hours ago, it shared a tweet on how the Indian Air Force (IAF) was evacuating civilians and airlifting rescue teams and relief material in areas hit by floods in the state. Barpeta, Vishwanath, Cachar, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Goalpara, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Hojai, Jorhat, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Karbi Anglong West, Karimganj, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sonitpur and Udalguri districts have been affected by floods. are more affected.
The report said that at least 20 dams across Assam have collapsed and several bridges have either been washed away or damaged. Several roads have been damaged or rendered unusable for vehicles, while 43,090 houses in 2,251 flood-prone villages have been completely or partially damaged.
