New Delhi: Delhi University professor Ratanlal has got bail. History professor granted bail by Tis Hazari Court. He was arrested after making derogatory remarks about the alleged Shivling found in Gyanvapi Masjid. He has been granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 50,000.
The professor was produced in Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court at around 3 pm on Saturday. Delhi University professor Ratanlal made a post on the social media site on the claim of an alleged Shivling-like shape in the Gyanvapi Masjid case going on in the court. There was an uproar after this post. According to the information, a case was registered against Professor Ratan Lal at Morris Nagar Cyber Cell Police Station in North Delhi under sections 153A and 295A.
Students’ union and teachers of Delhi University staged a protest on Saturday against the arrest of Professor Ratan Lal. Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and All India Students’ Association (AISA) have been protesting outside the cyber cell office in Delhi’s Morrisnagar since Friday night against the arrest of the professor.
Professor Ratan Lal clarified after the registration of his sub-case. He said that in India, if you say anything, someone’s sentiment will be hurt. So this is nothing new, I am a historian and have made many observations as I wrote them. I have used very safe language in my post and will defend myself even now.
