Ambani aims to generate at least 100 GW of electricity by 2030 from renewable energy sources, especially solar energy. Ambani is also working fast for this. Ambani has bought Norwegian solar panel maker REC Solar Holdings for $77 million. The company has obtained a total of 446 patents so far and their production consumes 75 percent less energy than normal panels. Ambani then bought 40 percent of the shares of Sterling & Wilson Solar Limited. The company has over 3000 engineering teams installing solar panels around the world.
Now the question arises that whether pure businessmen like Ambani-Adani are developing renewable energy sources to control climate change or is it a very profitable deal for them, or can it be made further. One answer to this is that our Prime Minister is very excited about solar energy, from this it should be understood whether it is in the benefit of the country or not, but it is a deal for the benefit of Adani-Ambani. Land acquisition for setting up such plants is easy, gets rid of many government approvals, and the government gives many concessions. India is a founding member of the International Solar Alliance and under this also all financial assistance is given for the production of solar energy. Developing countries like India get financial aid from rich countries in the name of controlling climate change and the latter part is spent on developing solar energy – obviously all these benefits are getting to Adani-Ambani. After the announcement of carbon-neutral by the year 2070 by India, the financial assistance in this sector will increase manifold.
