That’s the rule. In the uniform entrance exams in Czech, the children came across searching for incorrectly written words in the text. The math test then checked the pupils the most for word problems.
It is based on data from test organizer Cermat, who examined the Report List. We focused on applicants for four-year courses and eight-year grammar schools.
On average, high school graduates received 71.8 percent points in the Czech language and 63.8 percent points in mathematics. This means that applicants for studies deteriorated by about three percentage points in Czech compared to 2019 and, conversely, improved by four percentage points in mathematics.
This is a comparison with the last pre-prediction testing. Since then, two years of the uniform entrance examination have taken place under different conditions. Those interested in eight-year grammar schools rose in both Czech and mathematics – gaining 54 percent (52.6 in 2019) and 44.9 percent points (41.2 in 2019), respectively.
But now straight to the specific issues. An overview of the most difficult ones can be found in the gallery at the end of the text. And you can try right away if you answer correctly. The solution is always in the label.
Czech
A typical task that was the most difficult for all students in both four-year and eight-year courses: the task is to find four misspelled words in the text below and still correct them correctly. In this particular task, only six percent of ninth-graders managed to complete the assignment.
Solutions: charged, award-winning, darkened, were.
Similarly, students were not completely successful in other similar tasks, where they had to look for a few words in the text. However, every success is scored, so most schoolchildren have fulfilled the task, at least in part. However, we can also look at the question in which most students did not get a point.
In the test for eight-year grammar schools, it was the seventh task from the first term. Pupils were to use the term “work” in a sentence so that it was a different kind of word than the adverb. But only 22 percent of those tested succeeded.
Solution: eg we have books in the study.
Mathematics
In the case of mathematics, traditionally, students did not have problems with calculations, but with word problems. The ninth-graders in the second term were especially bothered by the very last task, the third part of which was mastered by only 3% of the pupils. Given that this is the final issue of entrance exams, the fact that many candidates simply do not have time for it may also play a role.
Solution: 640 stars.
Similarly, those interested in eight-year grammar schools had difficulty with the last tasks in both terms. Apart from them, the most difficult fifth question from the first term, which was handled by only 6.4 percent of children. It was a task with calculating the weight of individual objects.
Solution: 5.1: 90 g, 5.2: 110 g.
This year, pupils from Ukraine also took part in the entrance exams in mathematics. 1,190 of them applied for four-year courses and gained an average of 36.6 percent points. 17 applicants were interested in eight-year grammar schools and four pupils in six-year-old ones, achieving a percentage score ranging from 12 to 92% and from 20 to 78%, respectively.
