e-laborThe e-Shram portal has been developed by the Ministry of Labor and Employment to create a national database of Unorganized Workers (NDUWs), which will be linked with Aadhaar. It will contain the details of name, occupation, address, type of occupation, educational qualification, skill type, family details etc. so as to maximize their employability and extend the benefits of social security schemes to them. This is the first national database of unorganized workers including migrant workers, construction workers, gig and platform workers etc.
Under this scheme, the beneficiary will get 2 lakh accident insurance cover under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) after enrollment. In future all the unorganized workers will be given social security benefits through this platform. This database can be used to provide critical support to qualified unorganized workers in emergency and pandemic-like situations.
